It’s Back!

The year is 1990 in Tochigi, Japan. Where, in the firey furnaces of some factory. What happened at this factory? I’ll tell you. Rear wheel drive, mid mounted V6 producing 270 hp, it was the price of a corvette and the performance of a modern Ferrari. Yes! It’s the Honda NSX! The best sports car of the ’90s.

Ayrton Senna, my favorite racing driver, helped Honda develop it. The best feature of all!? Two words! Pop-up. Headlights. The most sought after design feature of ’90s. It was a small, Japanese sports car, but it wasn’t just that. It was essentially a super car. The MSRP was $50,000 (some dealers sold them for as much as $100,000). That’s a lot of money, but it isn’t a lot of money for a super car.

This car was a game changer. It combined the performance of a Ferrari with the convenience of an everyday driver, like an Accord. It was easy to drive around town, but then you could also dominate at the race track. It actually gave Ferrari a run for its money. The Ferraris of the 90s were track cars that just couldn’t function around town. They were also at least three times the cost of the NSX. So, Ferrari had to pick up there game.

Unfortunately, Honda killed it in 2003. There have been rumors of it coming back almost every year since its rather unfortunate demise. Now I am all a quiver with excitement because it’s no longer a rumor…It’s back!

Well, not yet but Honda is officially releasing one. It's not being produced until 2013, but it is being produced!

It does strangely resemble an Audi R8. It’s also a hybrid. But not a Prius hybrid, a sports car hybrid. That maybe an oxymoron to some of you. It actually isn’t. It has a high reving, mid mounted V6 (like the original), but also has some means of collecting heat that escapes from the brakes. This heat can be converted into power via a fly wheel and then sent to the wheels by an electric motor. At least, that’s roughly how Porsche does it. It seems to be the trend in the sports car world. Seeing that Honda is Japanese, they will probably come up with something incredibly clever.

There are a few reasons why I think it will be brilliant:
1. Honda is Japanese
2. They’re probably looking to beat the Nissan GTR
3. They might be trying to beat the Lexus LFA
4. They have a reputation to live up to
5. Honda might team up with McClaren for F1. When a company is in racing their cars are amazing

I am just hoping this car will be brilliant! Even if I never get to own one, I am really excited that it will be back!

My Thoughts on the LSU game

So, there was a little football game yesterday, as most of you know. LSU’s rematch with Alabama. LSU lost for a number of reasons that I don’t care to go into. I’m not an LSU fan so it doesn’t pain me that they lost. Just for the record I’m not one of those people who are glad LSU lost. I just watched the game.

A lot of people are disappointed because Les Miles made a lot of mistakes. He continued to make the same mistakes over and over again and seemed to expect something else to happen (the definition of insanity according to Einstein). A lot of people are mad about this, it’s nothing new for fans to be mad at a coach after a loss.

It made me think, though. We’ve all screwed up. We all continue to make the same mistakes repeatedly, whether we want to admit it or not. The only difference between our daily screw-ups and Miles’ loss last night is that his was broadcast across the entire nation. I’ve screwed up and let people down and so have all those people who are mad at Les. We need to remember the fact that he only had one loss, which is a pretty good season in my opinion. He is still a pretty good coach.

Sort of Drunk

Hello, all! I do apologize, it’s been at least a month since I last wrote. Lots of things have happened. The biggest at the moment is the removal of 5 of my teeth. Four of them were wisdom teeth, one was an abbesses molar. I’ve never had alcohol, but I took some Valium before the surgery. I’m pretty sure today is the closest I ever come to being drunk. The Vallium kept from walking properly, I was very wobbly…much like a new born giraffe. As soon as the nurse put the iv in I only remember being woken up, then waking up once again in the car, then going back to sleep and waking up once we got home. According to my parents; however, I was very much awake.

Apparently, I asked the doctor three times how to keep from getting an abscessed tooth. I also wobbled a lot to the car, which I vaguely remember. I thought I slept the whole ride home. Apparently, I was on my phone the whole ride home. Which does worry me because I don’t know what life-ruining things I may have sent.

It was an experience. I am now a little lacking in wisdom. I’ve been on a pretty steady dose of loritab and ibuprofen, and I guess that is the magic combo because I’m not that sore. Maybe, it will take a day or something. So, I’ll post more soon.
